Emily Wighton

Executive Clinical Lead

Emily is a seasoned pharmacy professional with over 20 years of experience across the NHS and wider healthcare landscape. A Darzi Fellow in healthcare leadership with an MSc in Health Policy, she combines frontline clinical expertise with senior management insight to design services that are both practical and transformative.

Throughout her career, Emily has focused on building high-performing teams and developing new models of care that bridge the gap between policy and practice. She played a pivotal role in implementing the Enhanced Health in Care Homes (EHCH) framework across 14 integrated care systems—a model that successfully reduced hospital admissions and was subsequently incorporated into the NHS Long Term Plan.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Emily demonstrated her ability to scale clinical solutions rapidly by establishing a Clinical Assessment Service, training over 200 pharmacists to manage NHS 111 medication queries remotely. Her work consistently uses data-driven clinical improvements to enhance population health and support integrated care systems in meeting the needs of their communities.

Known for her proactive and approachable nature, Emily is deeply committed to mentoring, professional development, and reducing health inequalities. She is an active contributor to the healthcare field through her publications and presentations, always advocating for pharmacy’s role in advancing patient outcomes and creating a more connected health system.
